Where the trailing safe-area column is wide enough for avatars (the iPhone Duo inner screen's vertical status bar), the channel filter becomes a vertical rail stacked from the bottom of the column instead of a strip over the feed. The space below the status items and Dynamic Island comes from iOS 27.1 occlusion reserved regions, which follow the island while the safe area stays put. The placement is computed in the same pass as the geometry so the collapsing large title can't drag the rail along for a frame. Large keeps bigger avatars in the narrow column by giving up padding first.
