Each video row carried its own sheets: tappableVideo added the queue
action and resume sheets, the context menu and swipe actions added
add-to-playlist and download options, so a row could declare up to six
sheets, owned by a row that a list may recycle.
Rows now present those through the nearest sheet host, as does the
video info view's resume prompt. The queue action sheet for a tapped
description link becomes a global request instead of being declared
at both the app root and the expanded player.
Sheets take the color scheme where their host sits, so the floating
details panel's dark override no longer reaches them and the
presentationColorScheme workaround is gone.
The add-to-playlist, download options and queue sheets were declared in
every view that could open them: the root view (twice, mirrored from
coordinator flags), the expanded player, its portrait and floating
panels, the player controls and the video info view.
AppSheet lists the shared sheets, and .appSheetHost() declares them
once. The app root and the expanded player each host them, and every
presented sheet hosts the next level. Views present through the
presentAppSheet environment action, which reaches the nearest host;
code without a view (and the expanded player itself, whose host sits
in its own body) uses PresentationRouter.request, taken by the
top-most host: the player while it is up, the root otherwise.
The mini player's queue and playlist sheets now go through the host,
replacing the isMiniPlayer*SheetPresented flags.
- List row hairlines read displayScale from the SwiftUI environment
- MPV render views take contentScaleFactor from traitCollection and
re-apply it on UITraitDisplayScale changes
- ExpandedPlayerWindow scales against the presenting view's own height
- MPVPiPBridge sizes the PiP layer from the container view's window
scene screen (UIScreen.main kept only as a nil-window fallback)
- WideScreenPlayerLayout falls back to the offered geometry size
- Remote control fullscreen state comes from the player sheet's layout
pass via NavigationCoordinator.isWideScreenLayoutActive instead of
screen bounds aspect
- Orientation TODOs for Dynamic Island side detection and

The "Author Avatars" toggle only reached the iPad/macOS comments page.
The expanded comments overlay now takes the same flag (hosts pass it in
the next commit), and the expanded comments pill shows the comments icon
instead of the author avatar when avatars are off.
The replies block in a comment used a hardcoded 44pt leading inset for
the avatar column regardless of the toggle, so "Show replies" was
indented past the comment text when avatars were hidden. The toggle now
aligns with the text (44pt with avatars, 0 without) and nested replies
keep a smaller 16pt inset without avatars so the hierarchy still reads.
The unpinned floating details panel forces a dark color scheme on its
content so it reads over the video. The play now / play next and resume
sheets opened from a related video inherited that scheme, giving white
text on the light system sheet background.
The panel now publishes the real system scheme via a
presentationColorScheme environment value and the sheets reapply it.
Phase 5 of the player panels redesign:
- Per-page element toggles now rendered and editable for every page:
comments (author avatars), related (thumbnails), chapters (thumbnails),
queue (previously played section), tracks (video/audio/subtitles/speed
sections)
- Page bar labels toggle (icons-only bar shows the selected page's name)
- Layout mode schematic diagram in the details panel settings
- NEW badge machinery for future page types (versionAdded on PanelPageType)
- Typed per-page settings accessors on PanelPageConfiguration and VM update
helpers for each page kind
- Unit tests for per-page settings round-trip and accessor fallbacks
The standalone quality selector sheet is unaffected: section gating defaults
to everything visible and only the embedded tracks page passes preset
settings through.
Phase 1 of the player panels redesign:
- New PanelSettings model (pages, regions, layout mode, default
visibility) stored as an optional field on PlayerControlsLayout with
an effectivePanelSettings accessor; lenient Codable so future page
types and settings payloads never corrupt saved presets.
- New Views/Player/Panels content engine: PlayerPanelContentView
renders a page bar plus the selected page (info, comments, related,
chapters, queue, tracks), with runtime hiding of empty pages.
- PortraitDetailsPanel and FloatingDetailsPanel now host the shared
content instead of their duplicated info bodies; drag machinery,
pills, and fades are untouched.
- Comments list extracted into CommentsListContent shared by the
overlay and the comments page; comments pill routes to the comments
page (expanding the portrait panel) when the page is enabled, and
falls back to the overlay when it is not.
- Tracks page embeds QualitySelectorView via a new isEmbedded mode.
- Deleted the unused video info bodies in ExpandedPlayerSheet+VideoInfo
and the dead PlayerInfoTab model.
Phase 0 of the panels redesign, extraction only, no behavior changes:
- Unify comments loading on PlayerState: loadComments/loadMoreComments
become the single loader, used by both the player sheet preload and
the comments overlay (which previously had its own duplicate copy).
- Extract PanelResizeGrabber from FloatingDetailsPanel into the new
Views/Player/Panels/ directory.
- Extract the shared queue list from QueueManagementSheet into
QueueListView plus QueuePlaybackActions, reused by the tvOS panel.
- Remove the no-op wideLayoutPanelAlignment accessor from the settings
view model; the player reads the panel side from SettingsManager, so
the preset field was dead. The Codable field stays so old presets
decode.
An inactive account keeps its credential and syncs like a rename, but
drops out of every picker and cannot be used until activated again.
Deactivating the selected account switches to the local context as a
published choice, so other devices follow instead of falling back.
The main button's subscribe/unsubscribe never told the destination
membership loader, so "Subscribe On…" kept a stale checkmark for the
current account — and tapping that row would do the opposite of what
the mark promised.
Also: the menu item and success toast now name the account the write
lands on when more than one destination is offered, and "Subscribe On…"
no longer waits for the channel request — the cached header stands in
until the load answers.
tvOS full screen covers are transparent, so each one filled itself with
a hardcoded black — invisible black-on-black text under the light color
scheme (e.g. the View All Comments page). A shared
tvFullScreenCoverBackground() modifier now picks black or light gray
from the color scheme; applied to the comments cover, subscription
destination picker, instance login, edit source, iCloud progress, and
legacy accounts import covers.
When enabled (the default), share links to YouTube videos point to the
active source's web watch page instead of youtube.com. Invidious serves
its frontend at the API URL; Piped uses its configured frontend URL.
Videos the active source can't serve (PeerTube, extracted sources) and
sources without a web frontend keep their original links.
The toggle lives in Settings > Layout & Navigation > Sharing on iOS and
macOS, and is shown only when an enabled source has a web watch page.
The row's accessibilityLabel was the debug string video.row.<id>, so
VoiceOver read a raw YouTube ID for every row. Build the label from the
DeArrow-aware display title, author name, and duration instead; the
accessibilityIdentifier stays unchanged for UI tests.
"Yattee (iCloud)" was hardcoded for the local data context even with
iCloud sync disabled, when the data is purely on-device. The name now
comes from DataContextValidator.localContextName, which checks
iCloudSyncEnabled and falls back to "Yattee (This Device)".
The header button and the settings row both raised a fullScreenCover to
pick a context; a Menu offers the same rows in place for one click,
matching the pickers elsewhere in Settings. With every presentation now
a menu, the picker view and the rows' inMenu flag had nothing left to
serve. The subscriptions header also cedes its width to the account
name: the view-options button keeps only its icon, since two full
titles wrapped into tall two-line lozenges in the tvOS sidebar.
An account with no user-set label was named username@host everywhere it
appears — the switcher menu, the settings rows, the playlist selector —
which overflows a menu row the moment the host has a subdomain. The
default name and the switcher's disambiguation suffixes now use the
instance's title when one is set, falling back to the host as before.
Residual round after the macOS fix verification, five closures:
A connection refusal or a failed DNS lookup arrived as APIError.unknown,
which no classifier reads — so an account pointed at a downed instance
never went unreachable, never fell back to local data, never armed a
retry. New APIError.connectionFailed carries the system's own sentence
and lands as unreachable/offline in AccountsManager, InstancesManager
and the credential probe; a refused host now classifies in seconds
instead of never.
Subscriptions' periodic retry armed only for networkError, while the
local fallback's yatteeServerRequired — shown exactly when the account's
server could not be reached — waited on a status expiry nothing was
watching. FeedLoadState.warrantsPeriodicRetry gates on the context's
unavailability, so that screen heals on its own too, and an account that
genuinely has no Yattee Server still never loops.
The switcher dropped every context of a switched-off source, leaving the
toolbar badge pointing at a menu its own selection had vanished from.
listedContexts keeps the rows with their status in the title ("— Source
switched off"), isSwitchable refuses the pick, and the current context
keeps its checkmark.
The sidebar footer's switcher row overflowed the 140 pt column minimum:
the width floor now sits on the menu itself and ViewThatFits drops the
caption — the part the icon already says — before the account name loses
characters.
The channel menu exposed a raw SF Symbol name as its accessibility
title; the label is now a real Label rendered iconOnly, so the AX bridge
hears "Subscription Options".
MAC3-R1 from the fix verification: refreshCachesForEffectiveContext purged
on every effective-context move, so the cache the Subscriptions fix meant
to keep was already empty when its keep-path ran. A move under an unchanged
selection now fences the feed cache non-destructively; only a genuine
selection move still purges. Also settles the destination loader's
observer callback onto the main actor without a capture-of-var warning.
MAC5: membership lives in an observable loader started from ChannelView's
task, outside the NSMenu content SwiftUI never runs lifecycle for; rows are
Toggles so the mark renders on macOS, and writes toast Subscribed or
Unsubscribed with the destination name.
MAC13: a destination whose context fails validation is disabled, the same
gate the plain Subscribe button uses.
MAC1: switcher rows are Toggles on macOS so the checkmark really renders,
and the settings row names its context via LabeledContent with a tooltip.
MAC4: accessible names are words, never raw SF Symbol identifiers.
MAC14: new displayStatus(for:) surfaces instanceDisabled on account rows,
badges, and the switcher tooltip without disturbing status(for:) consumers.
MAC16: disambiguated labels guard the username branch and fall back to the
source name only when rows would still collide.
Also carries the new Localizable strings for the whole macOS fix batch.
Only the non-tvOS toolbar menu computed a health-aware glyph; the
settings row and the tvOS button hardcoded the plain outline, so on
tvOS the icon never changed no matter what broke (TV7). One shared
icon now serves all three: outline for Local, filled for a signed-in
account, and an orange exclamation badge when the context needs a
person — credentials rejected, instance disabled, or unreachable.
Transient states like checking stay unbadged so launch doesn't flash
a false alarm.
Foreground activation repairs a selection whose account this device
knows was deleted. The check for whether that is safe was the identity
scope being resolved, which it already is in the window between an Apple
account change moving the namespace and the reload refilling memory —
so the repair weighed the previous identity's selection against the
previous identity's tombstones and announced the result to a user who
had not been shown an account yet. Fenced on the loaded namespace, the
same way saves are.
Three smaller things around the same theme:
- The destination rows forgot their membership answers on a credential
or account change but not on an instance change, which adds a row to
the picker while it is open. Unknown reads as unsubscribed, so that
row offered to subscribe a channel the account already has.
- The subscriptions settings count applied whatever the fetch returned.
A selection change is fenced by the service's provider generation, but
the fallback to local is driven by availability and announces nothing,
so the context is captured before the fetch and rechecked after it.
- Deleting a source from the browser runs the same cascade as deleting
it from Settings, and was the one dialog left that did not say the
logins go with it.
`correctIfContextRemoved` read a locally missing account as a deleted one
and reset the context with `setContext(.local)` — a new timestamp and a
pending upload. Now that foreground activation calls it, it ran before
the fetch that delivers the account record: a perfectly good remote
choice was reset and then published over everybody else's. It now asks
`AccountsManager` for a repair keyed on the deletion tombstone, which is
the same repair a deletion performs — a signed-in login on the same
server when there is one, the replaced choice's timestamp, nothing
uploaded. The toast names where the selection actually landed.
Adopting a synced context that named a deleted account repaired it but
kept whatever upload the previous choice still owed, so the sync engine
published the automatic fallback under that choice's timestamp — exactly
what not stamping it "now" exists to prevent. The adoption clears the
flag, and only on adoption: a local choice that outranks the repair keeps
its own upload.
The channel button's subscription lookup is fenced to the channel and the
round it was asked in, so an answer that lands after the user has walked
on — or after the account behind it changed — no longer writes itself
into the button on screen. Context and credential changes ask again. A
destination toggle is compared against the effective context rather than
the raw selection: the menu offers Local precisely when the selected
account cannot be written to, and that toggle has to be the one the
button then shows.
The destination rows forget their checkmarks when the logins change. The
answers describe credentials that have been replaced, and the tvOS picker
deliberately stays open across exactly that.
The subscriptions settings screen counts and exports what it is actually
reading from. The fetch behind both already followed the effective
context while the branch and the footer followed the selection, so an
unavailable account meant local data described as the server's.
The legacy `subscriptionAccount` migration refused to adopt a context
whose account had not synced yet and was never retried, leaving a fresh
install on local until the next launch. A synced account arriving now
retries it; the migration's own guards keep it a one-way move that never
overrides a choice made in the meantime.
The remaining negative-able Piped counts — likes, channel subscribers and
videos, playlist video counts — go through `PipedSentinel.count` like the
views and upload dates already did.
An account whose source is gone was listed nowhere: `orphanedAccounts` had
no readers, and the credential behind it could not be reached at all —
`AppEnvironment.accountCredentialsManager(for:)` resolves the store from
the account's instance, and an orphan has none. The new accounts screen
lists them and removes them by account ID, asking every account-keyed
store because the backend is no longer knowable. The pre-revamp
instance-keyed item is deliberately left behind: identifying it needs the
instance too.
Deleting a source has always signed out and removed the accounts on it.
Both confirmations now say so, and name them.
The sign-in that files a credential against an account is now one
implementation instead of a private method on the source editor, so the
accounts screen and the new optional sign-in step after adding a source
attach a login exactly as the editor does. Extracted verbatim — the
identity-scope guard, the account re-resolve, the write-then-read-back
and the rollback are what keep a half-written login from looking real.
Signing out from the per-instance section now asks first, and both
sign-out paths run one cascade rather than two copies of it.
Subscribing went wherever the selected account happened to be, and the
button offering it read the local store first — so under a server account
it claimed a channel was subscribed when only the device knew about it.
The button now asks the active provider and nothing else, except under a
local context, where the local store is that provider and can answer
without a hop.
The channel menu gains a destination list: local, plus every account
whose backend does subscriptions, whose instance is switched on, and
which has a credential on this device. A row names its own target, so it
deliberately does not care whether the selected context can be written
to — that is precisely the case where naming somewhere else is the only
way to subscribe at all. The main button is disabled instead, with the
reason beside it. tvOS reaches the same list through its own button and a
full-screen picker, because a menu cannot be driven with a remote.
Membership is asked for only once the rows are on screen: an unwarmed
provider answers by fetching that account's entire subscription list, and
asking every destination up front is a burst nobody requested. Answers
carry the round they were asked under, and "not asked yet" is kept apart
from "asked, not subscribed" — a checkmark the user acts on must not be a
guess.
SubscriptionService grows the destination-parameterized subscribe,
unsubscribe and membership calls the menu writes through, with the
context-implicit ones left as wrappers over the current context. A
membership answer that outlived its login now says nothing rather than
"no". Building a provider moves behind SubscriptionProviderFactory, which
is what lets a test see which destination a write was routed to without a
server behind it.
The unsubscribe-only screens are untouched: they act on the account being
browsed, which is the account whose list they are showing.
Switching accounts was buried in Subscriptions settings behind a picker
and a confirmation dialog, and it wrote two stores that could disagree.
One shared switcher now sits in the Subscriptions and Playlists
toolbars, the macOS sidebar footer and the Settings root, and every path
goes through AppEnvironment.switchDataContext(to:) so a switch behaves
the same wherever it is made. Switching is one tap: it is reversible, so
there is nothing to confirm.
Rows come from DataContextValidator.availableContexts, name themselves
through displayName(for:), and carry a status suffix when the account is
not signed in — plus the instance host when two accounts share a name.
tvOS gets the same rows as a full-screen picker.
Subscriptions also explains itself when the selected account cannot
answer: a thin banner names the cause and says the data below is local.
This is the first consumer of the validator's unavailability, and
correctIfContextRemoved() now runs on foreground activation, where
SubscriptionAccountValidator used to auto-correct any selection it could
not immediately verify.
With the switcher reading the context directly, the legacy
subscriptionAccount setting has no readers left: the setting, its
validator, the mirror that kept it in step and the feed cache's
instance-keyed fallbacks all go. The cache invalidation the mirror also
carried stays, under its own name. AccountsManager still reads the raw
legacy key for the one-way context migration.
The remote control loadVideo command only carried the raw video ID and
an instance URL, so extracted videos (Twitch live streams and other
yt-dlp sites) failed on the receiver: it tried to fetch the ID from the
/api/v1/videos endpoint, which rejects non-YouTube IDs.
The command now carries the full ContentSource and title. The receiver
rebuilds the VideoID from the source and opens a placeholder Video -
the player then re-extracts streams and full metadata from the original
URL, same as when opening the video locally. Media-source extractors
(WebDAV/SMB/local) keep using the existing UUID:path branch.
Both fields are optional for protocol compatibility: old receivers
ignore them, commands from old senders keep the legacy behavior.
Also stop sending a start time for live streams - there is no shared
timeline, the receiver joins at the live edge.
The previous fix rebuilt the quality chain when converting persisted
models back to videos, but many consumers discarded it again by
rendering bestThumbnail (usually a maxresdefault.jpg that 404s for
older videos) as a single URL with no fallback.
Extract the retry logic from VideoThumbnailView into FallbackLazyImage
and use it at every in-app site that can iterate: player thumbnails
(mini bar, expanded sheet loaders, autoplay previews, tvOS audio-mode
artwork - previously a silent black screen), video info card and tvOS
header, and the tvOS playlist cover.
Sites that fetch or send exactly one URL are rewritten to the
always-available hqdefault variant via Thumbnail.reliableURL (exposed
as Video.reliableThumbnailURL): Now Playing artwork, Top Shelf
snapshots, remote control state, the frozen transition thumbnail,
blurred info background, navigation covers, and playlist covers
derived from a video's first thumbnail in Invidious/Yattee Server
responses.
Also invert RecentPlaylist's upgrade helper, which rewrote covers *to*
maxresdefault, walk the quality chain when caching download thumbnails
for offline artwork instead of giving up after one 404, and expand the
remaining single-thumbnail Piped conversions into full chains.
With "Partially Watched Videos" set to Ask, opening a live stream showed
the resume sheet with a playback timestamp. A live position is relative
to the live edge, not a fixed timeline, so it is meaningless as a
playhead.
Live views are still recorded in history, but carry no resume position:
- WatchEntry gains a persisted isLive flag plus recordLiveWatch(), which
stores no position and clears state a drifting HLS duration may have
left behind. progress is always 0 and toVideo() propagates the flag so
history rows render the LIVE badge.
- from(video:) clamps duration, keeping Piped's -1 live sentinel out of
storage.
- DataManager routes live saves through recordLiveWatch() and clears the
flag on the non-live path (before updateProgress, so the auto-finish
check is not suppressed by the hard-0 live progress), letting an entry
heal once the stream becomes a VOD.
- PlayerService skips completion saves, always starts at the live edge,
and drops any startTime passed for a live video.
- The resume prompt, the "Continue at" button label, thumbnail progress
bars, "X remaining", Continue Watching and tvOS Top Shelf all exclude
live entries.
- CloudKit syncs isLive with the rest of the watch state: the conflict
resolver carries it with watchedSeconds/isFinished and the sync engine
applies it when merging into an existing entry. It is read leniently,
so the schema version stays at 2 and older clients keep parsing these
records.
Views without an explicit background sat on the translucent window
material, which picks up a wallpaper tint (bluish in dark mode) and
clashed with views drawing windowBackgroundColor, making the video
info header gradient fade visibly mismatch. Add opaqueWindowBackground()
and apply it centrally in NavigationDestinationHandlerModifier to both
stack roots and pushed destinations, plus VideoInfoView for
presentations outside navigation stacks.

Add a Custom swatch to the appearance settings accent color grid,
backed by a hex value stored in settings (synced via iCloud like the
rest). iOS uses the native ColorPicker wheel; macOS uses a circular
swatch that opens NSColorPanel, since the SwiftUI color well looks out
of place among the circles. All accent consumers now read the resolved
color through SettingsManager.resolvedAccentColor.
The indigo preset is retired from the grid but kept in the enum, so
users who selected it keep their color until they pick another one.

The default SwiftUI Menu style on macOS 15 renders as a bordered
pull-down button that stretches to fill available width, while
macOS 26 hugs the label. Apply .menuStyle(.borderlessButton) and
.fixedSize() to the video context menu and playlist header menu.
The content type segmented picker rendered as a Liquid-Glass pill instead
of a native macOS segmented control. Wrapping a `.segmented` Picker in
`.opacity`/`.disabled`/`.accessibilityHidden`/`.fixedSize` (used to keep
toolbar items mounted-but-invisible for stable layout) inserts a hosting
layer that makes the toolbar fall back to the pill rendering.
- SearchView: filters button and content type picker are now always
visible on macOS, rendered bare so `.segmented` keeps native styling.
- SearchView: don't reset the content type to .video on submit on macOS,
so a pre-selected type (e.g. Playlists) is preserved (iOS unchanged).
- InstanceBrowseView: same pill fix, rendering the tab / content type
pickers bare via conditional `if` instead of opacity-masking.
- ViewOptionsSheet / MediaBrowserViewOptionsSheet: use `.formStyle(.grouped)`
for native macOS form styling in the options popover.
Plain-Form sheets rendered as columns-style content floating inside
oversized fixed frames on macOS. Anchor these panels to their toolbar
buttons as popovers instead, sized to content; iOS/tvOS keep sheets.
- Search and PeerTube explore filters apply live (Cancel never
reverted anything anyway) and dismiss on outside click
- Subscriptions/Manage Channels "Subscriptions Data" opens as a sheet
from the popover's onDisappear via a pending flag, since presenting
while the popover dismisses gets swallowed
- Media browser view options drop navigation chrome on macOS
- Replace the full-width material overlay bar with a compact, centered
capsule (Apple Music style) via a macOS-specific macOSCapsuleLayout
- Extend glassBackground() to use real Liquid Glass on macOS 26 with a
material fallback on macOS 15-25 (mirrors the PlayerOverlayButton pattern)
- Remove the duplicate close button (close now comes only from the
configurable button set)
- Keep the capsule visible in the main window while the separate player
window is open (window mode), still hidden in sheet mode
UIActivityViewController is presented as a popover on iPad and requires an
anchor; without a sourceView/barButtonItem UIKit aborts in
-[UIPopoverPresentationController presentationTransitionWillBegin]. Set
sourceView/sourceRect on both the direct presentation in the swipe-actions
modifier and the ShareSheet representable.
Fixes a SIGABRT seen in TestFlight build 261.
YouTube's CDN advertises maxres/sddefault thumbnails for every video but
only generates them for sufficiently high-res uploads, so older/low-res
videos return 404 for those qualities. The view picked the best quality
and showed a blank placeholder on failure with no fallback.
VideoThumbnailView now accepts an ordered fallback chain and advances to
the next candidate via NukeUI's onCompletion when a load fails, so a valid
thumbnail is always shown. DeArrowVideoThumbnail feeds it DeArrow branding
first, then the video's own thumbnails best-quality-first.
tvOS's sidebarAdaptable TabView leaves the previously-pushed detail view
visible after the user picks another sidebar item, until they manually
press Menu. Broadcast a notification on tab change so any pushed
TVSidebarDetailContainer dismisses itself, and reset each tab's
NavigationPath. Also drop a redundant inner NavigationStack in the tvOS
SettingsView so subpages register on the tab's outer stack.
TVSidebarDetailContainer now exposes a showsDismissButton flag instead of
always attaching a Done toolbar item. The button is only enabled where a
view can end up with no focusable element on its own — Device
Capabilities (informational rows) and the Import Playlists/Subscriptions
flows.
Wrap Contributors, Translators, Acknowledgements, and Device Capabilities
destinations in TVSidebarDetailContainer for the consistent sidebar look,
and make the Translators/Acknowledgements rows focusable on tvOS by
wrapping them in Buttons so the Menu remote button can pop the stack.
When all playlists/subscriptions were imported, every row collapsed to a
non-focusable checkmark and the Add All toolbar item disappeared, leaving
the view with no focusable element. The Menu button then closed the app
instead of popping the navigation stack.
Wrap the import destinations in TVSidebarDetailContainer for visual
consistency and add a Done toolbar item (cancellationAction) that is
always present on tvOS, reachable from any list row via swipe-up.
Also swap the icon to puzzlepiece.extension, which better conveys that
this section houses third-party service hookups (SponsorBlock, Return
YouTube Dislike, DeArrow, short-link resolution) rather than being
YouTube-specific.
Hide the Resolve Short Links toggle on tvOS — there's no way to tap
inline description links or reach a system browser there — and tighten
the openInSystemBrowser platform guards so the iOS-only UIApplication
path isn't compiled on tvOS.
